About US
Hi! I’m Mickie. I am a pharmacist by day, aspiring writer by night (very late night!) and a wife and mom 24/7. When I’m not shuttling my two kindergartners around, I am a mild-mannered (as much as a red-head can be) pharmacist at a long term acute care hospital. I am very proud of my job and my profession. However, I didn’t know what I wanted to be when I grew up until I was 29! Talk about a late bloomer. With the gracious and generous support of my husband, I received my Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of California at San Francisco just as I turned 33. I have practiced in retail and hospital pharmacy for seven years now. I like certain aspects about both settings. I would have to say, however, my current job suits my work style and personality better than other jobs I have held. While I like my job, I must confess that secretly I have been working on my own home-based business. As challenging as pharmacy is, being with my family is more important to me.
How does this fit in with Chinese child adoption? Well, while in pharmacy school, I started to feel the biological clock ticking. My husband and I decided to wait until I graduated to start our family. We are not divergent people. We feel we can only do one job well at a time. So, going to school and raising a family at the same time were out for us. My hat is off to those (many of whom were my classmates) who can do both very well at the same time. After graduation, I thought we would start our dream family in less than a year. But biological children were not Plan A, as I mention on
my home page.
While in school, I began to feel a tug at my heart strings every time the news broad cast its segment “Wednesday’s Child” about local children needing loving homes.
I vaguely remember mentioning adoption to my husband at that time. But, as I said, school and kids did not mix for us.
I also remember talking to a friend of mine in pharmacy school who had immigrated to the US from China as an adult about adoption from China. Her perspective carried a lot of weight with me because she was from China. I also valued her friendship.
So, a few years later when we decided to adopt, I remembered my conversation with my friend. I knew then China was where our daughter was going to be born.
The Red Thread Journey Begins……
After a lot of research about China adoption agencies, we decided to go with a smaller agency. We felt we would get more attention from the staff. We were not disappointed.
However, after a major glitch in our paperwork, we thought our wait would spiral to 20 months. Fortunately, we did not have to wait that long.
We had our daughter home before Christmas the next year after we were DTC (dossier to China). What a wonderful Christmas we had that year!
Why did we start this website?
First of all, we want to share what we learned from our adoption with others. We also hope to inspire as many people as possible to at least consider adoption from China or anywhere else they feel led.
Additionally, I have always had a lot to say about Chinese child adoption. I often found myself repeating the same thing to many different people.
Now I can just tell them the basics and then give them my website address. It contains most of what I would have told them anyway. I can give my voice a rest.
My Passion
I guess you could say I am passionate about adoption. Other people are
passionate about other things.
Lucky for me, my website host does an excellent job of providing the tools for ordinary people like me to publish their passions on the web.
Once I read about their
proof
and all the tools they give me to publish my site, I was off and running with my passion in tow. Truthfully, I am having a difficult time keeping up with all the new gadgets they produce to help me get the word out about China child adoption.
They make spreading the word about my passion for China adoption easy. With their help I can build my own pages (requires no web building/developing experience), optimize my keywords so that I rank well with the search engines, mail out my newsletter, check my traffic stats, up load graphics, change the look and feel of my site, go treasure hunting in their forums for gold nuggets of information, and the list goes on.
They also teach me how to give away free information and actually make a little profit with programs such as Adsense, referrals and affiliates.
I cannot comprehend all the work they do for one minimal fee, but I am glad I found them. Because of them I can say that this site is mine.
Why not try it?
If you have a passion about something, you should try building a website yourself. My website host is risk free. There are no hidden charges and no monthly charges. They are upfront about what they offer and how they can help you.
The best part is they guarantee their product. They can do this because many others have used them to create top ranking sites. With such
success stories
to back up their claims, they can afford to put their money where their mouth is.
Give SBI a try some time. Tell them Mickie sent you!
